Professional practise, Existing student data collection.

This is an example of existing data collection with students being the subject matter. It provides details of student enrolments and qualifications obtained by higher education (HE) students at HE institutions (HEIs) in the United Kingdom (UK) for the academic year 2011/12. This SFR also includes information from the HESA Aggregate Offshore Record. This record captures students studying wholly outside the UK who are either registered with the reporting institution or who are studying for an award of the reporting institution.

The “Higher education statistics agency” collects data on students for many different reasons. All the data can be assessed online by anyone. The data is presented in simple graphs and pie charts to its easily understood. The agency also provides a brief explanation.

The way the data is presented is not particulary aesthetically pleasing however its very clear. From a graphic design prospective the data does not interest me however it does show student identity.
